Voting has been completed for the 1998 Derringers. (For Stories Published in 1998) Final day for voting was April 10, 1999.
Every member of the SMFS is eligible to vote on the nominations. The stories are provided online in many cases as a convenience. Please respect the copyrights of the respective authors/organizations.
There were a total of 136 pre-nominations covering 67 individual stories for the 1999 Derringers. Out of these the final nominations were made on the following basis: 1. Final nominations were required to be in the traditional short story format.
2. Each writer was allowed one nominated story per category. In the case of multiple pre-nominations for the same author, the story with the largest number of votes was selected for final nomination.
3. All stories represented in the final nomination slate were those receiving the most pre-nomination votes within each category.
4. Because there was only one story nominated for the Novella category, that category has been eliminated.
While our short lists are rather long, going by the rules, we could not further eliminate nominees. *** The 1998 Derringer Award Nominees (For Stories Published in 1998) SHORT STORY CATEGORY
